| 2 | Cheney Nauvoo Illinois Farm The Cheney Family Farm is located on block 36 outside Nauvoo, not block 36 inside the village. The Cheneys resided on this property during the 1840s, somewhere in the view of these photos. Ephraim owned over 100 acres and Horace Burgess, the uncle of Perry A. Burgess lived across the road. Levi Cheney returned to the property many years after they left the area and commented on how desolate the area is. |

The home is rather large, located on Short St. and served as a home for numerous Cheney and Thompson family members for over 115 years it remained in the family. These photos were taken during those years showing the numerous additions to the during its history. Joseph Smith III, the son of the Mormon prophet and President of the RLDS Church lived just a few feet up the street and was a longtime friend of the Cheney and Thompson family. | 6 | Pomeroy - Cheney House The Pomeroy - Cheney home is located in Boulder, Boulder County, Colorado and according to the plate which states the home was purchased by Lewis Cheney and wife in 1892. This isnt correct and it is well known from the Burgess Diary that Lewis Cheney died in 1885. The home must have been purchased by his estate or one of his sons Ollie or Charles who had just returned from living in Ohio about 1892. |
